Holi 2008 at Stanford..
For Holi celebrations this year, we decided to hit Stanford’s grounds. A huge event with lots of people, colors, and water pipes.. It turned out to be better than I expected.. There was a DJ spinning some real good music.. Stuff that really took the worst (ghaati) of us out.. LOL.. Overall the event was well planned, and we had a great time.. Sardar jis and Fashion..
I know this combination might sound unusual, since we have barely ever seen Sardarjis on the ramp or on screen having to do much with Fashion.. But, this is definitely changing.. I think most of us know of the Sardarji Sonny Caberwal who recently modeled for Kenneth Cole and made us all quite proud. http://www.kennethcole.com/thinkers/bio6.asp
Also, in the Lakme India Fashion Week, which is the Indian equivalent of the New York Fashion Week, one of the popular Men’s designers Narendra Kumar dedicated his whole Collection to the Sikh Community, particularly to Sardarjis.. All the models had turbans on, and modeled on the ramp with it looking quite handsome.. Here are some more pictures.
