This past weekend on Sunday, Shank, Didi and I took the Bart up to the city to check out San Francisco’s famous Air Show which we had heard so much about.. And it totally lived up to it’s reputation.. We were treated with amazing stunts by various aircrafts including the Blue Angels.. A set of 6 Boeing Hornets performing absolutely crazy stunts in the air right above the bay water and right next to the Golden Gate bridge.. The best according to all 3 of us was the Sonic Boom that one of the planes created.. A Sonic Boom is a phenomenon which is created in the air when the plane crosses the threshold of the speed of sound.. There is a round ring of smoke that is created the moment the plane crosses the threshold, and it’s quite an exciting thing to watch.. Unfortunately I couldn’t capture it on video, but you can see one here http://youtube.com/watch?v=-d9A2oq1N38. I did however manage to get some awesome crossover stunts by the planes… Here are some Pics
I came across another article on rediff on this Chinese guy called Kai-Fu Lee, who was the VP at Microsoft and has recently switched to go work for Google. What I liked the most was his career trajectory along with his deep interest and faith in Chinese talent. And how this new job in Google will do good for both him and his home China.. Another thing that was very truly said was :
“The challenge for foreign companies was to help those new technologists leaven their traditional Asian values with a more Western mind-set. “What it is going to take for success in the 21st century is a combination of both,” Lee explained. “How you adjust the humility with confidence, the perseverance with self-criticalness, the courage with the serenity.”
I myself have always tried to balance both my traditional values with the Western ways of life. One that I have most trouble with however is, Ahankaar (pride) being one of the vices, and confidence without which one can’t acheive anything in this competitive world. But, i guess the combination of both is the perfect solution to success…
For someone like me this is a blessing…. I have the most 411 charges you will ever see…. Coz i plan things last minute and then i dont have phone numbers, directions, movie timings, etc.. Google, Yahoo have introduced this thing where you can text a search string to their number and the results will come back to your cell fone. The trick is just to build the search string…. Here’s the article and some tips… BTW the numbers are Google : 46645 and Yahoo : 92466 …
